I use the Hario switch to brew my coffee and am trying to reduce my caffeine consumption. Hence I would like to brew smaller cups of coffee. I am currently using 10g of coffee with 160g of water. (1:16 Ratio) I am wondering if there is a minimum amount of coffee...

Why does some coffee not suit certain brewing methods?

I've done some cursory searching for an answer to this question, but haven't found anything really. You see a lot on bags of coffee, particularly from specialty places, that certain coffees are suited to certain methods. I had a bag that was recommended for metal brewing methods rather than filter. I made some v60s out of it and sure enough, it hasn't been great and there were some off flavours. However, I've been getting great results from my flair.

What is it about the coffee that determines this? Is it simply because the roaster has selected the beans and dialled the roast with a certain brewing method in mind, hence the results? Is it placebo? A bit of both?
