quality of beans for espresso vs. Drip Coffee

Question

Recently got into home brewing, both espresso and drip coffee (Used to use a nespresso)

I have a Niche Zero grinder, Breville Bambino for espresso, and OXO 8 cup for coffee.

My question is, I've been buying high quality, recently roasted beans from local coffee shops at about $20 per 12 oz. It's fairly pricey.

I taste a big difference with the expensive beans for espresso (and can tast their flavor profiles) but a lot less from my auto drip coffee.

Is it worth it to pay the premium for top notch beans for drip coffee? Thinking I should buy maybe some costco beans for drip? Any recommendations would be great.
