I use the Hario switch to brew my coffee and am trying to reduce my caffeine consumption. Hence I would like to brew smaller cups of coffee. I am currently using 10g of coffee with 160g of water. (1:16 Ratio) I am wondering if there is a minimum amount of coffee...

My finely tuned taste

My morning routine involves brewing up a liter of coffee for my wife and I to share, and then I make a simple shot of espresso for myself while the pot brews. The espresso comes from a Flair, so I have a workflow. I use 2 kettles, one of the stove to that I use to preheat and one to make the brewing water. This morning I noticed that the kettle with the brewing water was low and there was a bottle of water on the counter — opened. I grabbed it and added it to the kettle. Pulled my shot — it wasn't quite right but I couldn't pinpoint the problem. Shrugged it off as my taste being off — didn't plan to adjust anything for the next day's routine. Push up the clock 12 hours and my wife asked if I had seen a partial bottle of water on the counter. Yup, I said, "used it for my espresso this morning". "I squeezed lemon into that last night and forgot it" she replied. Some much for my refined taste ….
