I messed up? Looking for advice for better shots

Hey i need help.

i went from nespresso pods to a Commandante c40 mk4 grinder and a DeLonghi caffe treviso bar 14CD (this is my landlords coffee maker that was layin around)

We have a local roastery and i got a pretty recent roast so i was super exited to try out. The coffee i got is: "Nicaragua Maracaturra Honey" beans Medium light roast. and when i tried it, it felt like as i was drinking a treebark.i dont think it's supposed to be this bad.

What i used with this brew:

  • 13 clicks on the commandante
  • 15g on the 51mm portafilter
  • tamped with the on machine tamper as well as i could

Any advice or help would be much appriciated. i'm new to this.also, looking for coffee machine recommendations. i heard lever is better.Anyone had tried La pavoni machines ?thanks again
