How to make a decision about a grinder upgrade with incomplete information

Hey all,

I'm struggling with if I should upgrade my grinder, and if I do, what I should get.

I currently have a baratza encore with the upgraded M2 burrs. I use it for areopress and pour over and my partner uses it for areopress. It makes good coffee. I love to try out specialty coffees with all types of processing and all different locations and I find the coffee to be fantastic.

Buuuuut, like many others here, I'm pretty much obessesed with getting the best cup, and I'm trying to decide if an upgrade is worth it. I'm looking at both the DF64 and the Lagom P64.

While I don't make espresso yet, I think I eventually will try it out when I have more space for a machine. My question is, how can I make this decision without knowing how the grinders impacts the taste of coffee compared to my equipment today.

If you recently upgraded your grinder, how did you decide you weren't getting enough out of your current set up? Do you think you made the right choice upgrading? Anyone have experience moving from encore to one of the two machines?

Optimally, I'd love to be able to taste a pour over from all three grinders side by side, but I'll never be able to do that. Any thoughts are appreciated!
