A coffee noob with a brewing question

minimum dose size?

I use the Hario switch to brew my coffee and am trying to reduce my caffeine consumption. Hence I would like to brew smaller cups of coffee. I am currently using 10g of coffee with 160g of water. (1:16 Ratio) I am wondering if there is a minimum amount of coffee...

A coffee noob with a brewing question

And by "noob" I mean TOTALLY. I'm maybe two weeks into this coffee thing, and still figuring things out, so take it easy on me.

If a coffee is described as being for a particular brewing method, does that mean it's totally unsuitable for any other method? My (current) favorite brewing mechanism is an electric percolator and (with one notable exception) pre-ground coffee. In exploring different brands (and researching whole bean) I found one blend that sounded good, but it was described as being for French press, drip or pour over. Would it be a total waste of money buying it to try in my percolator?
