minimum dose size?

Cold Drip vs Short-Term Immersive Cold Brew

I have been experimenting with a homemade cold drip coffee maker lately (plastic bottle + Aeropress). After a few attempts I've "tuned" it to brew in about 3 hours and have been getting great coffee.

Until this point I had stuck to immersion cold brew, which I was doing for ~12 hours, both room temperature and in fridge. After the successful "fast" cold drip experiments, I figured I could try doing more comparable immersion brew with the same beans, grind, ratio, and time. To my surprise the 3 hour immersion cold brew tasted almost indistinguishable from the cold drip (admittedly, I'm not a coffee connoisseur).

Obviously at this accelerated time I wouldn't expect to get full extraction, but logically I would say the same for the cold drip. Has anyone done any similar experiments (qualitative or quantitative)? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
