Ratio Six and Ratio Eight Coffee Makers

I’m curious about cups produced from a Ratio Six Coffee Maker with Thermal Carafe compared to using Glass Carafe or compared to using the Ratio Eight Coffee Maker.

Aside from build material differences, there are at least two main design differences that affect performance: (1) the style/shape of paper filters used, and (2) the filter basket being open or sealed around the shower head.

Filter Basket — Only the Ratio Six with Thermal Carafe has a filter basket that seals itself against the shower head. This keeps heat inside and doesn’t allow moisture to escape. The Glass version and all Ratio Eight models have open / unsealed filter holders that allow heat and moisture to escape. I’ve seen people with the Ratio Eight complain about how condensation can collect around the shower head and drip making a mess. This also means it is losing more heat.

Filter Style — Ratio Six with Thermal Carafe version in North America uses flat bottom style filters, while the European Thermal Carafe version uses Cone filters (Tapered Wedge shape, not truly conical). All Ratio Six Glass carafe models and all Ratio Eight models use conical style filters (true cone shape like Chemex and V60).

Can anyone comment on their experience using different carafes and filter holders on the Ratio Six and / or Eight?
