Richard Fortus talks about producing next album from The Psychedelic Furs

By Angela Garrity, Guest blogger

Richard Fortus is no stranger in the music scene. His appreciation began at the age of 4 when he learned to play the violin, which in turn led to a lifetime of adding guitar, vocals, bass, drums and other instruments to his repertoire. Fortus is most well-known for being the guitarist of Guns N’ Roses, but he’s done dozens of other projects to add to his legendary career.

In this episode of Fueled by Death Cast, Fortus speaks openly about Richard Butler, the lead singer of The Psychedelic Furs. Their long running musical kinship history began in 1984, when Fortus’ then band, Pale Divine, opened for The Furs during a U.S. tour.

Fast forward to 2019, and Fortus announces that he is producing the next album for The Psychedelic Furs on episode #128 of Fueled by Death Cast. Fortus also leaves everyone hungry for more when he hints to lending a hand via a classical stringed instrument or two. Fortus is honored to be producing the project for a band he has loved since he was a teen.

The longstanding creativity between Fortus and Butler runs as deep as their friendship, but both bring their unique sound ideas to this project.

Look for the album in 2020 with a single expected this year, and listen to his full interview with Fueled by Death Cast below.

Angela Garrity is a guest blogger for Death Wish Coffee Co. Her work can be found in Vapun Magazine as well as on their website.
