minimum dose size?

I use the Hario switch to brew my coffee and am trying to reduce my caffeine consumption. Hence I would like to brew smaller cups of coffee. I am currently using 10g of coffee with 160g of water. (1:16 Ratio) I am wondering if there is a minimum amount of coffee...

Importance of baskets

I’ve recently bought a Breville Bambino (non plus) and a bottomless portafilter (I got it from Neouza) too. I drink multiple cups of coffee a day so I prefer using a single basket. Started experimenting different doses and came to a conclusion that 12g works best for the Breville single basket(light spraying with the current grind size)

Am I doing it right? I’m still really new to coffee making and haven’t yet explored the deeper side of it.

Should I increase the dose to 18-20g with the double basket? Would that make a difference to the taste of the espresso?

I also saw that IMS/VST get mentioned a lot when it comes to basket, do they lessen the chance of spraying? And also better extraction?

Thanks so much in advance!

  • sold my Delonghi Stilosa and got the bambino just days ago, and the difference in the taste of my coffee is mind blowing!

Edit:

Thanks so much for the helpful comments! It’s only the beginning of the year but I think getting the Bambino is already one of the best purchases I’ll make this year! Looking forward to trying different beans, all the experiments, and most importantly delicious coffees!

Got my eyes on the Baratza Encore ESP, can’t wait for it to release!
