I use the Hario switch to brew my coffee and am trying to reduce my caffeine consumption. Hence I would like to brew smaller cups of coffee. I am currently using 10g of coffee with 160g of water. (1:16 Ratio) I am wondering if there is a minimum amount of coffee...

Illy espresso choking my espresso machine

Hi I drink 2 lattes every morning and recently I bought Illy Classico espresso grind. I usually buy whole beans and grind using my trash burr grinder on the smallest setting. I thought I would try pregrind but the grind is so small that it is choking my DeLonghi Dedica Deluxe. It has a slow stream for about 2-5 seconds them just drops and I have to start a second double shot in order to fill my (double) shot glass. I found a thread on this from 5y ago but no real solution was proposed. It's getting to the point where I think my machine just sucks and I need to upgrade to a commercial u it to enjoy the process of making espresso again.

My question: is it my machine or the coffee grind size simply got grinded too small? Illy is reputable but I thought DeLonghi was as well, which is why I went with them instead of Breville…did I make the wrong choice???
