I live in South Dakota cowboy country. One of the best cups of black coffee I ever drank was made on the stove top in an old steel coffee pot. They started with a fresh pot by dumping grounds in hot water, with heat on low all day they added water and grounds as needed. On the second or third day the grounds would be a third of the pot and Pat would dump it out and start over. This goes against all the pour-over rules of gourmet coffee, however, it was very good black. Every bit as good as the peets I drink.
