minimum dose size?

I use the Hario switch to brew my coffee and am trying to reduce my caffeine consumption. Hence I would like to brew smaller cups of coffee. I am currently using 10g of coffee with 160g of water. (1:16 Ratio) I am wondering if there is a minimum amount of coffee...

Grinding by time for home

If you look at the button layout on my Vario, you'd be forgiven for thinking that grinding by time is the primary mode for the grinder. And I gave it the college try, but quickly concluded that anything but single dose was largely impractical. I started by weighing a single dose and seeing how long it took to grind – but that time changes significantly when the hopper is full. Grind times are also affected by roast/blend. And while a drip brew can tolerate a bit of variability, espresso is far less forgiving.

Still, I see all these grinders with prominent timing features – am I missing a great convenience here?
