minimum dose size?

I use the Hario switch to brew my coffee and am trying to reduce my caffeine consumption. Hence I would like to brew smaller cups of coffee. I am currently using 10g of coffee with 160g of water. (1:16 Ratio) I am wondering if there is a minimum amount of coffee...

French press choices, glass vs steel.

Hey all, I've started drinking coffee a few months ago and have been experimenting with various styles and equipment.

My old french press was a glass one, I liked the feel of it, how you can look at the coffee through the glass and the end result was good (at least compared to a moka pot, which is crazy bitter for my taste).

Unfortunately it broke, seemingly by itself, without any drops or improper use. Amazon is going to refund me so that's no biggie, but now I've been looking into something sturdier, namely stainless steel ones.
I want to get something that is good quality, no plastic in contact with coffee and around 6 half cups because I don't need anything bigger (600-750ml).

My issue is that almost all the steel ones I managed to find on Amazon seem to be made in China, and a lot of reviews are complaining about leaks, rust, chemical taste, not holding heat properly and so on. I know that negative experiences are posted more often than positive ones, but when the same problem is mentioned by hundreds of users, it doesn't exactly inspire confidence.

Are these defects something that all steel presses have? If so, is there any glass one I can find that won't break and doesn't have any plastic coming into contact with the drink? Usually the only plastic bit is the part that closes off the top and touches coffee right before you pour it.
I live in Europe so keep that in mind.
Last but not least, is there any other preparation method comparable to a French press (more or less same taste/convenience) that I could try out?
