Could I use a gooseneck watering can to pour into a Chemex?

Hi all,

I've seen tips on getting a gooseneck kettle for better temp & pour control for Chemex.

However, I've already got an always on (insulated) boiler tap in the kitchen, so would really prefer not to be boiling water twice, wasting energy/money.

So I'm looking for a gooseneck container, that I can pour water into from the tap, and then into the Chemex (primarily for better pour control, and to avoid ripping filters etc).

I happened to come across this watering can from Ikea. It's galvanised steel.

Could this work, or would I be adding a strange taste/poisoning myself?
