Cleaning moka pot

minimum dose size?

Cleaning moka pot

Hi everyone, looking to finally get on with that deep clean after 2 months of usage. I read through the manual and it says that citric acid and vinegar are both acceptable. I hate the smell of vinegar so that is out of the question. With citric acid, should I find citric acid powder and scrub the pot with that, or do I brew water with citric acid in it?

Also would lemon juice work fine instead?

When it comes to brewing, I've tried cleaning the pot with just hot water and obviously without the coffee grounds in the middle chamber, the hot water would just spurt out without warning, which is very dangerous. Is there any way to get around this issue?
