I use the Hario switch to brew my coffee and am trying to reduce my caffeine consumption. Hence I would like to brew smaller cups of coffee. I am currently using 10g of coffee with 160g of water. (1:16 Ratio) I am wondering if there is a minimum amount of coffee...

Can I boil coffee in a stainless steel carafe safely?

In the interest of not spending a lot of money on a new coffee maker or espresso machine, I'm curious if I can use my existing thermal carafe to boil my grounds on an electric coil stove top. Lid off, about 5 cups, for no longer than 4 minutes, maybe.

I'd hate to damage it if I can avoid it, but I can use a normal saucepan if need be. The carafe is just more convenient.
