Breville Barista Touch at 7000 feet!

Hello r/Coffee! I recently got my wife a Barista Touch for our anniversary. I personally don't drink coffee but she loves it. Anyway, our machine seems to make a decent shot of espresso. She worked at a coffee shop during college and drinks coffee so I have to defer to her on that. However, the hot water spout spits, spurts and sprays water after just a few seconds. Only one time did it seem to make extra noise every couple of seconds and spray hot water in a stream where it actually gets into the cup. I called Breville and they said that at above 4k feet they don't guaranty their products will work and they will not warranty them. However, because it worked one time with the extra noise I think there is something else going on but I have no way to prove and it and Breville is making this my problem. I was wondering if anyone else has experience with this model or one with the 3 second heater. Breville CS said that the cheaper models that take longer to heat the water might work better at altitude. They also said this problem is likely affecting the coffee as well but as I said my wife seems to think it's good. So with the fact that it worked once and the coffee is good I'm thinking it's not the altitude and the machine is broken.
