At what point do you think the benefits gained from more expensive gear starts to drop off?

I use the Hario switch to brew my coffee and am trying to reduce my caffeine consumption. Hence I would like to brew smaller cups of coffee. I am currently using 10g of coffee with 160g of water. (1:16 Ratio) I am wondering if there is a minimum amount of coffee...

At what point do you think the benefits gained from more expensive gear starts to drop off?

I personally think that for grinders, after the C40, or perhaps even the 1zPresso JX Pro, the improvements in your cup, at least for pourover, will be minimal. For kettles, well since it doesn’t really affect anything that much, I would say anything after a Hario Buono would be pointless. How about for you espresso-lovers out there?
