Aeropress vs Clever Dripper (?)

Aeropress vs Clever Dripper (?)

minimum dose size?

I use the Hario switch to brew my coffee and am trying to reduce my caffeine consumption. Hence I would like to brew smaller cups of coffee. I am currently using 10g of coffee with 160g of water. (1:16 Ratio) I am wondering if there is a minimum amount of coffee...

Aeropress vs Clever Dripper (?)

Lately I've been using Jonathan Gagné's long steep aeropress recipe, and it's smashing. I grind 5.0 on a 1zpresso K-Plus (Fine end of medium), swirls, steep 9 min, slow press, using the Fellow Prismo, etc. It's a great recipe. You might think that with such a long steep, a pretty fine grind, and plenty of agitation that you would get a bad brew – but you don't. You get a sweet, juicy, full-flavored brew. I believe Gagné explains the reason why the results are good is because the dissolved solubles in the steep water eventually reaches an equilibrium with the solubles inside the coffee particles.

The downside of the long Aeropress (Or any Aeropress recipe) is that obviously you can only make up to about 260ml of coffee with it.

Has anyone attempted to replicate this recipe on a Clever Dripper? I figure you could do the same thing, same grind size, same steep time, same agitation, but using more coffee and water. Instead of a slow press, you just let it gravity drain – in probably the same amount of time.

Edit: I don't have a Clever Dripper yet, but I just ordered one, so, I'm doing this experiment regardless in 1 or 2 days. Will share results. I'm using a light roast Ethiopian natural process.
