Aergind handle nut size

Hi all,

This is my first post here. 🙂

Having used a percolator (moka pot) to brew coffee for a number of years, I decided to invest in the coffee I drink by buying a hand coffee grinder and make the switch from pre-ground coffee to freshly grinding my own beans.

After doing some research (including watching the James Hoffman video), I settled on a factory second Aergrind from Knock's outlet on eBay for ÂŁ75. It grinds the coffee beautifully and is a handsome thing.

However, and this may just be because it is a factory second, the handle keeps coming loose and occasionally comes off. I tighten it back up with my fingers (I haven't had time to find an allen key to fit it), but this morning it came off and the nut flew across the kitchen and went whither I know not (or nut).

So, the tl;dr bit:

  1. What is the metric size of the screw/nut for the handle?
  2. What size allen key does it take?
  3. Can I just stick a piece of dowling rod in the hole instead? I carried on grinding with just the crank arm and it was fine without the handle if a little bit awkward.

Knock do a spare parts set but that's ÂŁ20. it's nearly Christmas and the Royal Mail are on strike, so it would take ages to get here.

Any help you can give would be much appreciated. Thanks. 🙂
