Advice for getting into a coffee career

I just graduated from college. I went to school for plant science, thinking I wanted a career doing research, but now I'm thinking I might want to get into coffee. It bothers me that I've changed my mind on career paths so late, but I'm trying to roll with it. The thing is, there's a ton that goes on from growing the coffee to getting it into a drink, and I'm not sure what exactly it is I want to do. I'm not sure where to start either. I thought since my experience in the coffee industry is non existent, maybe it would make sense to start out as a barista? I have an interest in potentially starting a coffee roasting business in the more distant future, so I'm not sure what the logical thing to do currently is. I'd like to figure out what in particular it is that I'd like to do.
