Adding sugar to the milk before steaming – same as, better or worse than dissolving in the espresso?

I use the Hario switch to brew my coffee and am trying to reduce my caffeine consumption. Hence I would like to brew smaller cups of coffee. I am currently using 10g of coffee with 160g of water. (1:16 Ratio) I am wondering if there is a minimum amount of coffee...

Adding sugar to the milk before steaming – same as, better or worse than dissolving in the espresso?

My Mrs likes to add sugar to the milk jug before steaming the milk, rather than the more traditional method of dissolving the sugar in the espresso before adding the milk. Would this have any impact on the steaming/texture of the milk?
