minimum dose size?

I use the Hario switch to brew my coffee and am trying to reduce my caffeine consumption. Hence I would like to brew smaller cups of coffee. I am currently using 10g of coffee with 160g of water. (1:16 Ratio) I am wondering if there is a minimum amount of coffee...

Slow extraction using Breville barista max on highest grind size setting

Hey everyone,

I am using the Breville barista max which I just bought for myself. I bought it as it is perfect for my daily life as it is an all in one machine. This is my first coffee machine so if I use the wrong lingo, I apologise in advance

I am currently trying to pour myself double shots of espresso. After trying it a lot of times the shots always seem to trickle out of the basket and taste bitter An average time per double shot is around 50 seconds at the moment.

I heard that I may be grinding too fine but I am currently on the maximum grind setting of 30 (the most coarse) and it still trickles out. I also read that I may be using too many grinds, it is recommended I use 20-22gs and I am currently using 16gs. I read that I need to distribute the grinds too, I also do this and get the same result. I’ve tried changing one and keeping the other the same and it’s the exact same problem.

Does anyone have any suggestions? As it is making me want to pull my hair out and I’ve wasted an entire bag of coffee beans so far
