minimum dose size?

I use the Hario switch to brew my coffee and am trying to reduce my caffeine consumption. Hence I would like to brew smaller cups of coffee. I am currently using 10g of coffee with 160g of water. (1:16 Ratio) I am wondering if there is a minimum amount of coffee...

Not sure I can taste coffee with the low ratios I’m using

Ok so I like my coffee weak for a number of reasons :

  • I'm super sensitive to caffeine. I don't need a lot to feel the effects
  • If I'm feeling anxious and take a strong cup, it can give me a panic attack
  • I sometimes have (stress-related) gastritis and coffee can worsen this condition

But otherwise I like the taste of coffee, and I also like the "functionality" of caffeine (in small doses) for concentration and productivity.

My usual driver is 7 g for 200 mL of water which is a ratio of 1/28 (don't scream). Much lower that what is usually recommended. I find it good, but I feel like I don't get the subtleties of the specialty coffee I'm using.

I sometimes pull a 85 mL of water with 5 g which is a more "normal" 1/17 ratio, but even with that I don't always find all the adjectives that are written on the box :p

I'd like to taste the different kinds specialty coffee, and find those that I really like, but I wonder if I can do that with the doses I'm using ? Is there a optimised way of brewing to get flavorful cups with low dosage of coffee ?

I'm mainly brewing with an Aeropress, and I hand grind my beans with a Timemore C3.
