I use the Hario switch to brew my coffee and am trying to reduce my caffeine consumption. Hence I would like to brew smaller cups of coffee. I am currently using 10g of coffee with 160g of water. (1:16 Ratio) I am wondering if there is a minimum amount of coffee...

Chemex white vs natural filters

Coffee has been tasting a bit off lately. I thought it had something to do with my technique. I'm still learning how to use the Chemex. It didn't occur to me that the paper filter might have something to do with it. Found a site where testing was done between the two. White filters are better.

I washed the natural filter a couple of times. Coffee was noticeably better.

Questions

  1. Anyone else have a bad experience with natural filters?
  2. Is the sock filter any good?
  3. Is the metal filter any good?
