Does anyone actually like Indonesian Giliing Basah?
I find it to have a heavy, somewhat clunky body, which, when paired with the remarkably low acidity, makes for a dull cup. Mostly, the flavours I can taste are leather, tobacco and it’s almost always overlayed with wood. Does anybody have differing experiences? ...

Why is my milk separating?
This is something that has been baffling me for months. I usually bring a thermos of some regular old drip coffee to work, and a few months ago I started noticing that the milk was settling to the bottom. I don't think it's always done this because I've...

I am new to this. Just got set up with a Gaggia Classic, Eureka Mignon Sinlenzio and all the other bits I need. Ready to get the machine up and going today but I want to select the proper beans for me. I have been doing a lot of research and understand that freshly...
Chock Full of Grounds
I have a Cuisinart coffee grinder almost identical to this Oster model: https://images.app.goo.gl/s2GE5BuFeGF9MbjL6 Saw some grounds coming out from the very bottom of the motor housing. I took it apart and it was full of grounds. Not just a little but full. Literal...
Best Manual Grinder to Buy Used.
I am in the process of upgrading my coffee game, but do not have money to spend on a new Encore electric or top-end manual grinder, but am also not sure a cheaper one (like the Skerton Pro) is much of an upgrade over my admittedly underwhelming Cuisinart burr grinder....

V60 clarifications on ratios?
I’m using 20g of coffee with a double bloom and two pour method. With a ratio of 1:15 should my total weight be 300g including the weight of the wet coffee in the filter and not the actual ml in the cup? Or does the ratio translate into 300ml of coffee? Hope this...
Experiment: today I put about a gram of whole white peppercorn in my chemex before adding coffee
I loved it, the pepper gave the coffee (an otherwise underwhelming roast) an earthy abrasiveness to it. You couldn’t really tell it was pepper. It completely changed how I enjoyed that cup. Try it out, eager to hear what everyone else thinks submitted by ...

Can you help me understand the unreal flavor of my coffee?
Let me start off by saying that I am a huge enjoyer of good coffee but I'm not an expert in this, so bear with me. Yesterday I went to a shop that sells all sorts of interesting nuts, teas, spices, powders and similar stuff by weight. A jar of roasted coffee...
Do’s and Don’ts for a unsupervised/beginner barista. What bad habits should I look out for?
Hi all! I'm starting work soon as a barista for a hotel; but I have (virtually) no experience, no training, and no access to people with experience. I want to get good, and it's up to me to train myself. I'm filling my head with theory and figuring...
Small Village Cafe & Shop: Espresso setup for my mother (UK)

People who live in places like Denver or Flagstaff don’t have to worry about measuring the water temp for pourovers to be sure the water isn’t too hot. Water boils at ~198-200F degrees F at those elevations.

Moka pot and burr grinders
My partner drinks a lot coffee, and I recently got him hooked on grinding his own beans. His preferred method is the moka pot, but now he’s complaining that the added steps of loading a blade grinder and then transferring to the moka funnel takes more time. So I was...
Anyone actually able to get good coffee out of the high-extraction Tricolate recipes?
Had my Tricolate for over a week and in that time have had nothing but mediocre coffee out of it trying to use any high-extraction recipes where the ratios are 1:20 - 1:22. Part of the point of buying it for me was to use less coffee when I have something nicer on my...
Astringent brew – beans seem really soft
